Monday June 4th, 2012


Objective: Students will work on their Final Portfolio.

Agenda:

  1. Typing Practice at typingweb.com or nitrotype.com or Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing (15 minutes)
  2. Complete this survey (2 minutes)
  3. Work on Final Portfolio  – Reflection on 6 projects, Superhero/Banner Challenge, Writing Sample (40 minutes)
    1. For the Writing Sample, choose 1 of the four prompts and create a 3 paragraph mini-essay (intro, body, conclusion)
        • Think about something ugly — war, fear, hate, cruelty — but find the beauty (silver lining) in it.
        • Imagine you had a hundred dollars, but you couldn’t keep it. You had to give it away to a person or charity. Who would you give it to? What would yuou want them to do with it?
        • Find (or take) a picture.  Describe the significance of that picture to you, your community or the people involved.  What is the message sent by the image.  What is the greater significance or importance of this image, is it an inspiration to others? How so? (For some photos, Click here) Be sure to include the image on your page.
        • What is your opinion of Locke High School?  Why do you believe this?  What would you like to see change? What would you like to see stay the same.

Objective: Students will work on their Final Portfolio.

Agenda:

  1. Typing Practice at typingweb.com or nitrotype.com or Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing (15 minutes)
  2. Work on Final Portfolio  – Reflection on 6 projects, Superhero/Banner Challenge, Writing Sample (40 minutes)

Objective: Students will prepare and reflect on their work form this year to create their final portfolios and finish cutting and posting their stencils project

NOTE: Mr. Levin will most likely be chaperoning the 10th Grade field trip on Friday (So he will not be here, but you will have time to work on your portfolio!)

Objective: Students will reflect on their work from the year by creating a portfolio page on WordPress.

Agenda:

  1. Typing Practice
  2. Complete this Form
  3. If you are done with your Stencil project, begin the Final Portfolio
  4. The Final Portfolio Project
  5. Did you get the reflection done last week?  Make sure you uploaded the 6 Pictures.  (Use the Media Gallery)
  6. New Blog Page:  Final Portfolio
    1. Think back to this year, from ALL the projects, answer the following questions in a complete sentence and EXPLAIN WHY You choose that project.
      1. What do you believe to be your BEST Project.
      2. Which project showcases your most imaginative work
      3. Which project incorporates things that you enjoy?
      4. Which project was the most challenging?
      5. Which project took the longest to create?
      6. What was your favorite project of the year?
    1. If you are done with your stencil project, begin the Final Portfolio Challenge:
      1. Turn Someone you Know into a superhero!
      2. OR Create a New Banner for Locke1.com (985 pixels by 280 pixels)
    2. If you are not done with the stencil project, Get the post finished and finalize your stencil for cutting (See below for instructions)

Objective:

Students will integrate the threshold adjustments and custom shape tools in Photoshop to create a set of 5 vectorized stencils that they will publish online via WordPress (5), and/or print and transfer into a spray-paintable stencil (1).
